FAQs

Covid-19

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour Team in New Zealand are excited to bring the tour back to New Zealand after previous events have been postponed. We’re excited to share with you an inspiring set of films from across the globe. It is important that you do not attend an event if you are currently unwell, a confirmed or probable case of Covid-19, waiting for a Covid-19 test result or self-isolating.

What happens if the screening I have purchased tickets for is cancelled due to Covid – 19?

We know that there is a lot of uncertainty around purchasing tickets for events during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Our policy here is simple; if the event is cancelled due to Covid-19 all tickets and ticket processing fees will be automatically refunded to you.

Are tickets refundable?

It is important that you select the correct ticket type, screening date and number of tickets as refunds are not available. Tickets will however be refunded (including associated ticket fees) should we cancel the screening as a result of Covid-19.

Are the films suitable for children?

Our screenings generally carry a PG13 rating – Under 13’s are welcome to attend if accompanied by a responsible adult – but as always it is down to the parent/guardian’s discretion. We do try to make the evenings as family-friendly as possible, though it is possible that there may be some strong language in some of the films.

What age do you apply to concession tickets where they cover an attending youth or child?

We consider an attending youth or child to be an attendee age under 18, for the purposes of concession tickets.

What films will be shown at my local screening?

In New Zealand we will be touring three different programmes. Please see which programme will be screening at your local event here. Once you know what programme is screening at your local event, you can see what films make up that programme here.

How long do screenings run for?

Our Screenings are split into two halves with a short interval between them. Each half is around 60-80 minutes. Typically our screenings run for three hours in total.

How does the Tūtoko (online) programme work?

This stop on the world tour is held online via Banff On Demand - so from the comfort of your own home! Following on from our live events we have a unique programme of films screening online (between 3rd-31st July) - completely different films from those that were screened at our live screenings but just as epic! You can view the Banff 2024 Tūtoko (Online) Programme here.

The viewing period for the online screening will be from 3rd - 31st July 2024. Once you click "Watch now", you'll have unlimited access for 72 hours to watch the full programme. Time starts ticking once you unlock the programme (start watching)! You can watch the programme as many times as you like within the 72 hours. Tūtoko (online) programme can be viewed on a web browser, so you don’t need to download any other software before viewing it. Tūtoko (online) programme is intended for single-household access. More than one device can be logged in at once and be watching different content simultaneously. The programme is geo-restricted to NZ so you need to be in NZ to view the programme.

You can purchase tickets on Banff On Demand here.

Eventbrite pre-purchase tickets will closed 10am Thursday 27th June 2024. Those who have pre-purchased tickets on Eventbrite will be emailed directly from Banff On Demand at the end of June/early July with an Order Confirmation and instructions for viewing the programme.

Further questions? Check out the Banff On Demand help page or contact the customer support team in the live chat via the help page https://watch.banffcentre.ca/help.

Can I buy a ticket to the Online Programme and show these films at a public venue?

No, this event is for at-home use only for individuals, families or small gatherings. The purchase of the Tūtoko (online) programme is for private purposes only and does not include a commercial license.

Who organises the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour – NZ?

The tour is organised and run by the New Zealand Alpine Club as a non-profit venture. Each screening is staffed and organised by a team of dedicated volunteers. All money raised from the tour goes directly to support the work of the New Zealand Alpine Club and its local sections around the country. You can read more about the New Zealand Alpine Club here or speak to one of our volunteers at an event.
